I haven’t written on my blog for almost a month now, but you can see through the pictures I’ve posted that a lot has happened during this month.

First of all I celebrated Halloween with my friends Jeanette and Kevin. The Saturday before Halloween we went to a friend of Kevin. As you can see at the pictures, Jeanette and I were dressed as the red and purple fanta girls. We had a really good time so I was not in my best shape when I had to work the next Sunday at noon, but I survived (-;

The next week was very exiting because Wouter arrived on Friday night at the airport. He stayed till November 21st. Unfortunately I had to work the first week (the Sunday included) and on the second week I also had to work on the Monday, so in the time we could spend we had only 8 days together. Luckily Wouter could give us some help at work so he didn’t have to sit home alone all the time.
We didn’t really have a plan to spend our free days, but Olivier gave us some tips. The last weekend from Friday till Sunday was already planned to go to Las Vegas with Jeanette and Kevin. So we had three days that week to spend somewhere else.

On Tuesday we stayed at home because we went to bed very late on Monday evening, spending our time on a perl project for Virt-IX (yes we’re real nerds). Since the day was almost gone at the time we got out of bed the next morning, we decided not to go anywhere that day but spend some more time on the perl project to finish it (you can see the result at https://peers.winnipeg.nl and if you want to know more about Virt-IX you can go to http://www.virt-ix.net ).
This time we went to sleep early so we could start our journey to Mount San Jacinto in Palm Springs on Wednesday around nine in the morning. We brought our navigation equipment with us containing the following items:

  • a laptop with GPSdrive and Kismet installed
  • a USB GPS device
  • three brand new and fully charged batteries
  • (and of course Wouter to manage all this stuff)

We arrived around 03:00PM in Palm Springs.

The next day we went on our way to Joshua Tree around 10:00AM after a quick break at the Starbucks Coffee. It was just an hour driving from Palm Springs to get there so we had the whole day in front of us to spend in Joshua Tree National Park. When it started to get darker we went on our way back to Rancho Bernardo since it would take quite some hours to get back.

Wouter will provide me with some maps of the routes we’ve been driving during our journey through the desert. I will add comments to the picture pages to tell more about all the places we went that week.
